What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient, natural therapeutic technique based on the principle that there are areas, called reflexes, in the feet, hands and ears, which correspond to every part, gland, & organ of the body. Palpation and pressure on these reflexes causes the various body parts to let go of excess stress, tension and congestion. Blood flows in, elimination of waste is improved, nutrients are transported to all body parts, and circulation is normalized. This brings on relaxation and revitalizes energy. It contributes positively towards achieving harmony on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.

Reflexologists do not diagnose, prescribe or cure specific diseases. Reflexology does not interfere with most conventional medication and can be used along with most other forms of medical care. Reflexology sessions are particularly beneficial for stress-related disorders, which can account for 75% of all illnesses.

Reflexology can benefit the following conditions, among others (just a few examples are given for each):

What Can I Expect In a Session With You?

You will be given a health assessment form to help find your current medical, physical, mental and emotional condition.

What is the Cost?:

Your first session

After your assessment is reviewed, you and your reflexologist will focus on your healing goals for this visit.

A Typical Session

Fully clothed except for bare feet, you will be seated in a reclining chair. For your full comfort, you will have a pillow, a blanket, and music. Work on the feet usually takes between 50 and 55 minutes. The session begins with a soothing foot bath or washing and an inspection of the feet. Your reflexologist looks for pain, tenderness, corns, and skin hardness, which indicate your emotional and physical health. Depending on your needs,  essential oils, lotions or powders may be used. As the work begins, you can relax and enjoy some loving attention to your feet! A reflexologist uses only hands to apply gentle pressure to specific points on the feet or hands, paying particular attention to those that are out of balance. You may, at times, feel pressure, sharpness or warmth. This is normal, and you should share that with your reflexologist, who will use that information to individualize your session so that you receive the maximum benefit.

After Your Session

At the end of the session, you will be asked to drink a minimum of 1 litre of water before you go to sleep for the evening so that waste products may be freely eliminated.

Follow-up Sessions

At the end of the first treatment, you should feel calm and yet rejuvenated. Within 2 to 6 regular visits, you should begin to see changes in your physical body as well. As the reflexes in the feet return to balance, the head, neck, spine, and spinal nerves improve, gait improves, and organs all improve. For this reason, you will be encouraged to return according to a schedule determined at the end of your first session
